LYNDE HOUSE MUSEUM

The oldest house in Durham Region, Lynde House was originally located on a large 200-acre farm beside Lynde Creek on Dundas Street in Whitby, Ontario.  Lynde House has been moved twice, first to Cullen Gardens on Taunton Road in 1986, and again in 2013 to its permanent home at the corner of Brock and Burns Streets.

The Whitby Historical Society promotes the Lynde House Museum as a cultural anchor in the community, offering an extensive year-round calendar of events including a monthly Tea and History Speaker Series, Live History Theatre, Re-enactments, special displays from its large collection of artifacts, Victorian Parlour Games Nights, Kid’s Camps, Candlelight Tours, Festivals, Community Awareness Info Sessions, workshops, demonstrations and a variety of fundraising events. We welcome guests, including school and community groups, to the Lynde House Museum for tours offering a glimpse into the lives of settlers in the early nineteenth century. We track guests from around the world on our hand-crafted wooden visitor’s map.
